While I agree that 2$ is going into the overkill zone, let me give you a few figures from a QSL Managers point of view to think about.
My wife Syl acts as QSL Manager for quite a few of the Golf Tango activations, so we are very aware of the contribution situation.
For us to post ONE qsl card to the EU it costs us 77 cents and todays rate for the dollar against the euro is 73 cents so making a difference of 4 cents.
To post ONE qsl worldwide the cost is 87 cents as you can see that makes a difference of 14 cents
Now at first glance you may think that a few cents here and there is nothing, but just think if we have 500 hundred qsl cards to post ?
And you will also notice that I haven't even included the cost of the qsl card or the envelope !!!
So the delimma that we find ourselves facing is that ONE dollar is not enough and TWO dollars is too much.
Surely any reasonable person would not expect to QSL Manager to pick up the bill ?
I'm afraid that there are a lot of myths out there in radio land about QSL Managers getting rich, well I can assure you that this is very far from the truth.
My conclusion is that an IRC is probably the best and fairest way to help solve this problem, especially when it comes to posting qsl cards to outside the EU.
Now that I have provided these facts and figures from a QSL Managers point of view, I would be very interested to have your thoughts on this subject.
Hi Roy, I agree with you on the costs of sending qsl cards $1 is not enough, but $2 just cover the cost to outside of EU. The only problem with an IRC is that I have recieved many that were not valid, mostly from 14 div, they are not stamped by the post office, I know that people buy these off the internet and i wish they wouldn't, they are wasting their money. Whenever i get one I send it back with the words INVALID where the stamp should be, just in case it is sent again. The cost of post is going up again in the UK in springtime, juat have to wait and see how much it is going to cost to send a qsl card.....

Roy I had an email back from some manager from the 14 div asking for 3 dollars of me for his card I replied back with the middle finger to this person trying to rip me off, when I send qsl cards out I always send the sae and 1 irc i.e. I just had reply back from 111 div Jordan and that was with only 1 irc that I sent out

Hi Nash,Paul/All
Yes the IRC can be a problem, a few weeks ago Syl went into our local post office to use an IRC coupon and the people behind the counter told Syl " we don't accept these " !!!
Well I'm pleased that Syl stuck to her guns and insisted that these IRC coupons were valid and that they were in use all over the world, after some discussion the lady in charge of the post office said that she would look into it, and now I'm pleased to report that they now ACCEPT IRC's in our local post office.
BTW this is a typical Corsican reaction........ anything that entails work and effort then that does not go down well with the Corsicans
Finally why not "name and shame" the QSL Manager who was looking for a contribution of THREE DOLLARS, if guys like this are allowed to operate like that then where does it end ?
One thing that I can see happening more and more in the future is that it will soon reach the point where QSL Managers will stipulate clearly that " NO CONTRIBUTION = NO QSL CARD "

First when you see in the SD directory "QSL manager" a contribution is well requested. When you see "QSL via" the contribution is not obligatory. But, indeed, it's allways a pleasure for the operator to receive a qsl with SAE and a contribution. But the operator can not refuse to send qsl if he don't rx a contribution.
Now, we spoke about 305AT/DX. For the members how didn't see the mail, with SD we have also a New system. It will be in the directory 2012, but here all what about the SDCC. If others QSL managers will be part of it, contact the directory team.
I think other groups accepts also the SDCC but I am not sure.
NEW CONTRIBUTION’s SYSTEM
Contribution:
2 US$ – 2 nationals stamps - 1 SD Contribution Coupon - Self Address Envelope always more than welcome
You will be able to send up to 3 cards.
How a CC (contribution coupon) works and why?
It replaces simply the usual contribution. Since years now Manager are losing money due to postage increase and change value.
This deal is winner to winner as YOU decide, when you want to send your cards knowing you can post up to 3 cards, meaning that at 2 cards you start earning money and manager did not loose any more
More over all, no risk in sending with CC as no postal value.
What is the cost and where to order ?
VIA INTERNET and PAYPAL: contribution@sugar-delta.fr
